EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION

 In Mutual, Kirsten Kainz explores the interconnected relationship between humans and the natural world through 41 life-sized sculptural works adorned with found objects and vintage costume jewelry. Transforming unexpected everyday materials into dazzling representations of wildlife, Kainz creates pieces that invite viewers into a deeper emotional connection with the creatures and ecosystems that sustain life. 

At the heart of the exhibition is the idea that beauty has the power to inspire care. Through these intricate and unexpected works, Kainz reminds us that we protect what we value, and that our relationship with the natural world is inseparable from our own future. 

Known for her large-scale animal sculptures and paintings that reflect a deep reverence for nature, Kainz’s work carries both wonder and urgency. Mutual serves as a striking reminder that our fates are deeply intertwined with the living world around us—and that connection is the first step toward stewardship. 

Artist Bio: 

The natural world inspires Kirsten’s work. Her art captures the best of what is beautiful and helps us find a place of honor for it. She is known for her large iron animal sculptures and her paintings of ephemeral landscapes and bold horses. 

Her work loops back to one common source which is her deep-seated love of the natural world and sense of urgency to protect the fragile and important world. Her work helps us feel our connection to the natural world. 

She earned her BFA in Metalsmithing at SIU, Carbondale, IL & Curtain University in, Western Australia. 

Kirsten and her husband live in Montana where they raise four wild girls, host many animals, own a Brewery, and try to make the most out of living in a beautiful place. 

Her fine art is featured in public and private collections around the globe.
