EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION
Patricia Thornton works in printmaking, sewn works, hand drawing, and painting. The exhibition features an approachable and playful body of work, marked by careful craftsmanship and a rich lexicon of real and imagined characters. Framed works on paper, many with sewn elements and hand coloring, travel as a cohesive whole, alongside an ongoing sticker project.
Thornton is an educator with a long history of non for-profit arts management, art direction, teaching, and collaborative practice. The exhibition includes interactive elements: an ongoing sticker and magnet project designed to deepen visitors’ engagement with the work and with their own creative practice, alongside multiple proposed education opportunities. Thornton also proposes a mono-printing workshop using stencils, and a workshop designed for other artists and cultural makers on the importance of mutual support in the arts, and about her transition from art administrator to full-time make
