The Montana Museum of Art & Culture (MMAC) is proud to share the work of the trailblazing artist Kristi Hager. A longtime friend of the museum, Hager lost her struggle with cancer on November 12, 2024. Before her passing, she bequeathed an impressive portion of her personal collection to the MMAC, including masterful examples of her own works as well as those of close friends. This exhibition acknowledges her great generosity to the museum and presents Hager’s innovative artistic trajectory over the last four decades. We are grateful for her largesse and committed to preserving her legacy and vision. We commit to broadcasting those issues and concerns she pursued in her art. Even as we mourn her loss, we celebrate her colossal achievements as a serious painter, performance artist, photographer, and arts advocate.
