Art Tetras: Four Sides of a Story
Derived from the Greek word tetra, meaning “four,” my Art Tetras are four-sided wooden blocks, each face featuring a distinct composition. Yet, together, they influence one another to create a cohesive whole.
While the outer surfaces invite viewers to connect with recognizable images, within these Tetras lies an inner world — a reflection of deep, locked-away emotions and introspection. These four sides influence one another, forming a cohesive narrative of memory, feeling, and interpretation. Each Tetra is a fusion of textures, colors, and collected pieces — a visual journey that bridges what’s kept inside with what’s shared outwardly.
Artist Biography
This body of work traces a psychological and emotional progression through rupture, survival, integration, and sovereign becoming. Each Tetra represents a facet of lived experience — grief, betrayal, illness, devotion, lineage, land, and renewal — not as isolated events but as evolving states within a single continuous life.
The earlier works hold the intensity of fracture: fire, shattering, the body as battleground, the heart pierced yet beating. They do not dramatize trauma, but acknowledge it. As the series progresses, the energy shifts. There is holding. There is sisterhood. There is the unbroken thread of love for daughters and grandson. There is land — Montana sky, open road, horizon. What emerges is not triumph, but integration.
The final works embody quiet power: the knowledge that rupture can be survived without hardening the heart. Evidence of fracture remains — but sealed, layered, and transformed. The exhibition is designed as a physical journey. Viewers move through varying scales and heights of Tetras, discovering multiple sides of each form. The progression unfolds gradually — intrigue, rupture, holding, reclamation, and finally awe. The culminating piece reflects openness and continuity: vast sky, lineage, breath, and grounded confidence. It represents a woman who has walked through shards and stands steady — not untouched, but whole. This is not a narrative of devastation. This is not a narrative of devastation.
